2013 – VANISH develops professional training for counsellors and health professionals

Following the Victorian Parliamentary Apology for Past Adoption Practices, VANISH is funded by the state government to provide professional training to counsellors and allied health professionals to build the knowledge and skill base in Victoria to appropriately support adults affected by adoption. Funding was also provided for a modest counselling service and to establish regional support groups. Working with Loss and Trauma Related to Past and Forced Adoption Practices (link to For Professionals page), a two-day training program for counsellors and health professionals, is developed and facilitated by Dr Sue Green, psychologist and former member of the VANISH Committee of Management.
